My arrival in Turin was a beautiful time of discovery!
A few months ago, I began a new chapter of my (small) life with one objective: to learn Italian in Turin! I come from Normandy in the North of France so I was a bit afraid of missing too much our strong & tasty cheeses. At the same time, I was very excited to discover a new way of life : la Dolce Vita!
In 2016, Famakan had to leave his country, Mali, while he was studying Modern Languages. He suddenly had to put his dreams on hold. But he arrived in Italy with a heart full of hope and clear projects in mind…
Since the beginning of 2017 the Italian city has offered the opportunity to migrants, foreigners and locals to gather together in an informal way, sharing knowledge and going beyond the traditional learning method. In fact, in Italy asylum seekers are generally included in the public schooling system, where classes are entirely formed by migrants and the aim is to bring the participants to reach the A1-A2 level and get the middle school certificate….
Guess what? SPEAK has landed in Turin and the first set of courses is ready to start! Woohoo!!
I know, I know. We admit it. We might have got a little excited. Can you blame us though?
What you probably don’t know however, is the amount of great work and help that has been behind this SPEAK achievement. And, with the first few courses starting, the success of our very first event in Turin last month and the next one already on the go, what a better time to thank all our new friends!? Let’s meet them all!
