About SPEAK
SPEAK works as a culture and language exchange program where anyone can apply to learn or share their language and culture with others. Nobody is left out due to financial reasons! SPEAK was founded in 2014 in Portugal. Now SPEAK is in 7 countries and 20 cities!
Get ready to explore different places with us in London (yeah, our language groups can take place in a park, library, pub…anywhere!) and to share your world!
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is the reality.” – John Lennon
Why London?
Together we are taking SPEAK to London!
London is a melting pot and has high migration flows. It calls for language and culture programs. Guess what? SPEAK is all about this!
The founders of SPEAK London didn’t know each other before SPEAK, but SPEAK brought them together. “We were interested in the same project, at the same time, in different parts of the world.“

I am Bulgarian and moved to London 7 years ago. Arriving here, I wasn’t confident with the language and was afraid I wouldn’t fit into my new home country. I started my journey by working hard and going to the local church for free English lessons. When I was introduced to SPEAK, the program that gives you the opportunity to make new friends and share your world, I wanted to take it to London!

I am Brazilian and I lived in Portugal for the past 7 years. I have now moved to London in the last few months with a goal to become fluent in English and to experience another culture. When I was living in Lisbon I looked forward to meeting new people and learning English on a low budget. Therefore, SPEAK caught my attention. Participating in the language group was unforgettable so that I decided to take SPEAK to London!

I am Portuguese and have been living in the UK for the past 9 years. In the beginning it was quite difficult to adapt to a new life and country and I felt like an outsider. For the past few years my jobs and volunteering activities have allowed me to develop projects that get people involved in their local communities. That’s why SPEAK caught my attention.
“SPEAK’s vision of bringing people together by sharing a little bit of their world is something I fully believe in and what inspires me to get others involved.”
SPEAK brings people together in an informal way, to share experiences, cultures and their language. It’s absolutely fantastic and I couldn’t wait to be a part of this great adventure.
