We can all recognize the need to take a closer look at the migrant and refugee integration process. But do we actually know the real depth of this challenge?
Did you know that EU predictions state that in 45 years the European population will be reduced by 50 million people in total? Why this a big concern? For the reason that 1 in 3 people will be migrants by 2061. Therefore, Europe will need to renew its workforce and find new and more effective solutions for the migrants social integration process.
This scenario presents an opportunity for the development of innovative strategies and effective measures. Measures that positively contribute to equal rights between migrants and locals. Therefore, it will be possible to facilitate the newcomers social integration process regarding their personal and professional growth.
Synergies between governmental and non-governmental organizations, alongside the creation of projects that meet the most pressing needs of this challenge, will be the key to ensuring global economic, social, environmental and political sustainability.
Having this in mind, Migration Code entered the market as an all-in-one solution for the migrants social integration process.
Migration Code is a life-changing employment program in which the participants (migrants or refugees) will learn to code and have the chance to be in a partner company as a software developer. Because of this, they will get a job in Lisbon (full-time). This is a program that will respond to the unemployment and the language barrier challenges. Consequently, Migration Code will help them create an informal support network, resulting in a faster and more effective social integration process.
The program is free for participants since our partner companies will be sponsoring their training.
How everything will happen?
The first step is the application process, which is composed of two separate phases, one that participants will do remotely on their desktop computer and a final in-person workshop day at Migration Code campus in Lisbon that will occur during the first week of January 2020.
After being selected, the Migration Code participants will learn to code in a 12 weeks boot camp (full-time) with Code for All. The last step will be a 5 months professional internship in a partner company, where the participants will get real-life experience!
Our main goal is that participants get a job in Lisbon and have a new professional career!
What are we looking for?
- English speaking newcomers living in Lisbon (or close by) – the entire program will take place in Lisbon;
- Over 18 years old;
- Available for 8 months, in a full-time schedule;
- Unemployed or underemployed newcomers.
Are you ready to transform your life and get a job in Lisbon?
