As some of you, especially those who follow SPEAK on Instagram and Facebook, may already know, SPEAK was lucky enough to be invited to present at Web Summit 2016! This was a great opportunity for SPEAK to get our message out to more people, and to spread the SPEAK joy!
Web Summit is an annual technology conference, which has been called ‘the best 
technology conference on the planet’. This year, there were over 50,000 attendees, around 15,000 companies and 7,000 CEOs from 166 different countries giving talks on all sorts of topics, for example how to build a global brand, how social media is impacting our marketing, the future of robotics, and so much more. There were representatives from Facebook, Coca-Cola, Aston Martin, Amazon and many more, plus appearances from Ne-Yo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and even Luís Figo!
As for SPEAK, our Web Summit got off to a great start with our very own community manager Mariana Brilhante presenting SPEAK during the Pitch sessions on the first day. She did a great job, perfectly getting across what SPEAK is and what we stand for, and giving great responses to the questions asked by the panel of investors. It was a great opportunity for SPEAK to be visible to more people, and to get others to understand what SPEAK does! We were also lucky enough to have our own SPEAK stand on the Wednesday of the 4 day conference, where our team answered people’s questions and explain SPEAK to new people, potential investors and collaborato
rs. We spoke to loads of different people from lots of different companies, demonstrating our portal and inspiring people to make a change in their community!
It was an absolute honour to be part of such a huge and inspiring conference, we thank Web Summit and StartUp Portugal for the opportunity to join in! We also had the chance to meet loads of lovely new people who took an interest in SPEAK and what we do, and we hope to hear from them at some point in the future whether that’s to collaborate on a project or just to join our SPEAK community.
